Episode one opens with Elian naming himself in the dark. "My name is Elian. A fallen elven prince on the run. The situation right now is a bit bad." He has been drugged, and worse — the person sharing the room is a Beastman. Through the haze he hears the man beside him say "I want you," and when Elian calls it a mistake, the answer is low: "That's not what you said when you were begging me last night."
The next morning the city has changed. Rayne's men have wiped out Carl's gang overnight. "From this day on, the entire underworld of Eternal Night City belongs to us," Rayne says, and orders his lieutenant Loki to check whether any elven royalty has arrived. Elian tells the truth of the hunt: his brother colluded with outsiders to drug his wine and steal their mother's keepsake.
When the hunters corner Elian in the open, they give him one order: hand over the relic and they will leave his corpse intact. Elian's answer is to shove the stranger beside him and say "Friends run." But Rayne is not the kind of man who runs from an elven dispute — and he has already decided the prince is his.
Meet the characters
Elian
Pale, silver-haired, pointed ears, a jeweled circlet. The purest royal bloodline of his generation — and the family that wants him dead is his own. Cornered but no pet: he names his own betrayer and tells the stranger beside him to run.
Rayne
Black-haired, fur-cloaked, wolf medallion at his throat. He wiped out Carl's forces overnight and answers to no elven hypocrite. To hunters who enter his territory: "They must have a death wish."
Loki
Sharp, loyal, quick with a "Yes, boss." He untangles the elven power struggle and tells Rayne the real reason Elian is hunted — his bloodline, not any theft.
Standout beats
Elian wakes in a Beastman's room with no memory of the night. The man beside him says "I want you" and reminds him how he begged.
Rayne's men have erased Carl's gang overnight; the streets were locked down while Elian was out. Eternal Night City has changed hands.
"My brother actually colluded with outsiders to drug my wine. He is determined to hunt me down to the very end."
Rayne hears elven hunters have entered his territory. His answer is a growl: they must have a death wish.

Editor's take
Our editors' notes on the opening arc — personal picks, not audience feedback.
"It opens on possession, not a slow burn: the prince is drugged and on the run in scene one, and the Wolf King has already decided he is not leaving."
"Elian is a cornered royal, not a pet — he names his own betrayer and says 'Friends run.' Rayne looks genuinely dangerous, the wiped-out gang, the wolf medallion, the promise of death."
Best for viewers who like gay dark-fantasy romance with a possessive protective hero and a cornered-but-defiant prince; if you want a soft or consent-light-slow dynamic, the opening is drugged-waking and claim-first. Compared with most shifter-prince shorts, the protection is as aggressive as the torment — that tension is both its strength and, for viewers wanting gentler caretaking, its limit.
