Julian runs a global empire but agrees to his mother Margaret's blind-date threats only under duress, and swears he will never marry a gold digger. The rich girls laugh off the broke cripple in the wheelchair, so his mother assigns him Josie, the poor cousin. To test her, Julian rents the oldest, smallest, shabbiest house he can find; when Josie walks in and says the furniture is a disaster, he concludes she is after the money like everyone else. About the show

Source: YourChannel official drama page & player — editorial coverage based on the opening arc; series details verified 27 Oct 2026.

Episode one opens on a ledge in Chicago. Margaret threatens to jump unless Julian skips his next blind date, and to make the point she will tell all of Chicago that the world's richest man drove his own mother to her death. Julian caves, but on his own terms: he will never marry a gold digger. The wealthy girls at the date laugh at the disabled cripple in the chair, so his mother supplies a better match — the poor cousin, Josie.

Episode five is the test house. Julian orders the oldest, smallest, shabbiest riverfront place he can find, money no object. Josie walks in, watches a table fall apart, and says the place is a disaster, she cannot stay. Julian, listening, concludes she is after the money like everyone else and calls for his car. He had really thought he had found a woman who did not care.

Episode eight is the meeting with her parents. Josie tells her father she has a boyfriend, and Julian's staff propose the gifts: ten million in cash, a house each on the Gold Coast, London and LA, and the finest jewelry. Julian turns them down — not yet. Josie is a good person, but her family's character matters just as much, and he needs to keep testing. At her porch, her own people mock the disabled broke boyfriend showing up with cheap gas-store flowers.

Editor's take

Our editors' notes on the opening arc — personal picks, not audience feedback.

WebDramas editorial · on episode 1

"The ledge threat is a cold open that tells you everything about this mother-son dynamic: Julian only agrees to romance under hostage conditions, and the disguise starts as self-defense."

WebDramas editorial · on episodes 5 and 8

"The shabby-house test is the whole premise as a set piece — and Josie failing it honestly is the point. Julian keeps testing her family because he has been burned before; the show's slow burn is a man waiting to be proved wrong."

WebDramas editorial · the bottom line

Best for viewers who like hidden-billionaire romance with a wheelchair-disguise premise and a lead who tests everyone; if you want the reveal at the wedding immediately, the opening arc keeps the cover on through the family visit. Compared with most billionaire romances, this one runs the power fantasy as a character audition rather than a grand reveal — that focus is both its strength and its limit.
