Liam Carter has had a crush on Chloe Brooks for years — until he watches her confess to his roommate and rival Ethan Ward. Humiliated and furious, he decides on a ridiculous revenge: I'm going to dress up as a girl, make him fall for me, wait until he's completely hooked, then let him find out what it feels like to be played, Ethan Ward. The blonde in the white cardigan he invents goes by Lily.
What Liam does not know — and what the audience slowly learns — is that Ethan recognized the disguise on day one. Ethan has been quietly in love with Liam for years, and he is not chasing Lily by accident. He calls it out in their very next conversation: you're pursuing her, but you didn't reject me yesterday. When Liam argues who came first, Ethan simply says, weren't you the one who came to me first? The revenge plot has become a date neither of them will call a date.
By episode five the whole mess orbits one plan: get Ethan to the cinema on a Friday so Chloe can watch him up close. Lily is only here so Chloe can see what he's really like, Liam insists. But when Ethan finally explains why he keeps showing up, the line cuts through every disguise — because she reminds me of someone. The wig, the white dress, the revenge — it was always Liam he was asking about.
Meet the characters
Liam Carter
Bright, jealous, dramatic. He has carried a quiet crush on Chloe Brooks for years. When she confesses to his roommate Ethan instead, he decides the only answer is a wig and a revenge plot — and keeps falling deeper than he planned.
Ethan Ward
Dark-haired, amused, two steps ahead of every scene. He lets the disguise run purely to watch Liam talk himself into admitting what he wants. He is not fooled; he has been quietly in love with Liam for years, and he is waiting.
Chloe Brooks
Bright, warm, used to being admired. She confessed to Ethan and has no idea the boy in the hoodie across the dorm has spent years watching her. She is the prize Liam thinks he is fighting over.
Standout beats
Humiliated after watching Chloe confess to Ethan, Liam swears revenge out loud: I'm going to dress up as a girl, make him fall for me, wait until he's completely hooked. The wig comes out, the white dress comes on, and Lily is born.
Ethan drops the line that rewrites everything: I met a girl today who likes the exact same coffee you do, I was actually planning to pursue her. Liam has to ask himself whether Ethan is flirting with Lily, or with the boy under the wig.
Chloe asks Liam for one thing: help get Ethan to the cinema Friday night. I just want one chance to spend some real time with him, she says. Liam agrees, which means Lily, Chloe, and Ethan all end up in the same row.
Cornered at last, Ethan admits he is not pursuing Lily for Lily's sake: because she reminds me of someone. The look he gives Liam is the answer. The revenge plot has been a confession in disguise the whole time.

Editor's take
Our editors' notes on the opening arc — personal picks, not audience feedback.
The cross-dressing revenge is not a one-joke gimmick — it is the whole engine, and the fun is watching a lie that should fall apart in minutes keep surviving because one boy is letting it survive.
He is not the oblivious rival everyone expects. He knows, he is amused, and he has been waiting for Liam to say it out loud. That single choice turns a jealousy plot into a slow, mutual flirtation.
Sunlight, coffee-shop booths, dorm hallways, a cinema trip that looks like the first real date of the year. The palette stays golden even when they lie to each other, which makes the honest moments hit harder.
Best for viewers who like bright college BL where the rival saw through the disguise on day one and plays along; if you need a slow unmasking, this one knows immediately. Compared with most identity-swap comedies, the pursuer is in on the joke — that reverse game is both its strength and its limit.
